Kandy
This hill country city with its refreshing climate is
considered to be the home of traditional Sri Lanka
Culture centred on the 19th Century. Man – made
Kandy Lake, built by the last Sinhala king, Sri
Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. This city is also
home to the sacred tooth of the Budddha –
symbol of the sovereignty of this island. The tooth
came to Kandy in 1590 and still remains
ensconced in it’s own temple the famous Dalada
Maligawa. Kandy is a treasure house of art and
culture.
Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden. This garden
is easily one of the best of its kind in the World.
The many beautiful avenues will lead one to
sections, which provide a burst of tropical colour.
