Nuwara Eliya
Popularly known as "Little England". The cool, picturesque 1890 m. high hill resort, modeled as an English Village during the British colonial times. Visit a tea plantation and a factory to see Sri Lanka's most famous product being grown. Sri Lanka produce a significant share of the world best tea as "Pure Ceylon tea".
Nuwara-Eliya is popular for the scenic view because of its invigorating mountains and architecture to support. Sri Lanka s highest mountain Pidurutalagala (8282 feet) is located within the city limits. Nuwara-Eliya also has one of the finest 18 hole golf courses in South Asia.
The nostalgia of the empire builders is reflected in Nuwara Eliya. The town is decorated with buildings ranging in style from Georgian to Queen Anne . Parks, trout streams and an 18 hole golf course complete with gorse.
8 Km from the town is an excellent botanical garden, at Hakgala 27 Km to Horton Plains a nature reserve with a charm of its own.
